Our client is a dynamic and highly regarded regional firm who is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join their Dispute Resolution team, to be based from either the Exeter or Torquay office. With a strong local and regional profile and an impressive client base, the firm has experienced exceptional growth over the past few years and is now one of the largest practices in the Devon and Somerset area.

With offices in South Devon, North Devon and Exeter, the firm prides itself on collaboration and a ‘low hierarchy’ environment where individuals are encouraged to aspire and progress at their own pace.

As part of the Employment team within Dispute Resolution, you will be responsible for handling a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, to include:

  • Settlement agreements
  • Unfair dismissal
  • Discrimination claims
  • Redundancy, TUPE & business reorganisation
  • Grievance & disciplinary procedures
  • Drafting contracts & policies
  • Contracts for self-employed & casual workers
  • Employment rights

You will be providing high-quality, informed legal advice and representation to clients across a range of employment law matters. You will also have experience in:

  • Negotiating settlements and representing clients in mediation, conciliation, and other alternative dispute resolution processes
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service and fostering client trust and confidence
  • Conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and preparing cases for hearings and tribunals
  • Keeping up to date with developments in employment law and contributing to the continuous improvement of legal services within the firm

You will be joining a friendly, progressive and professional team with access to smart modern offices which bring staff and clients together in the very best environment. The firm offers a competitive salary, career development and excellent benefits and terms of employment.

With several years’ experience post-qualification as an Employment Lawyer in a quality regional or national firm, you will feel confident managing your own varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious matters. You will be accustomed to organising yourself and your work efficiently with minimal supervision to deliver excellent client service. The firm prides itself on exceeding clients’ expectations and your own client care skills and direct experience of managing client expectations will be highly developed.

You are motivated to engage in business development activities and have begun to develop your profile across the region, appreciating the value of networking activities to extend this further. The firm will expect you to bring your own business generation ideas into the team as they seek to work together to consider marketing, thought leadership and networking activities which support business growth.

Naturally collaborative and team-focussed, you will enjoy spending time with your colleagues in an office, but equally value flexibility and trust to work remotely. You will know how to encourage and support less experienced colleagues, and share your knowledge across the team when the opportunity arises. You’ll be personally well organised, with good general IT skills and a positive approach to learning new systems as needed.
