Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive

Finance Assistant to join a busy and supportive finance team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will play an important role in delivering accurate transactional processing and financial administration, contributing to the smooth running of the organisation's wider finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance experience who is looking to build their career in a varied role with scope to develop their knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities of the Finance Assistant

  • Process purchase orders, supplier invoices and payments, ensuring financial records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Reconcile supplier statements, maintain supplier records and resolve finance queries efficiently.
  • Process staff expenses, credit card transactions and sales invoices while supporting colleagues with financial administration.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes, audit preparation and financial compliance activities.

Requirements of the Finance Assistant

  • AAT Level 2 qualification or relevant practical experience within a finance or accounts function.
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, alongside strong numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using finance systems and Microsoft Excel, with excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work accurately to deadlines and contribute positively to a team.

Experience within education or the public sector, or AAT Level 3 or progress towards it, would be advantageous.

  • You will be subject to DBS Checks for this role, being on the Update Service would be advantageous.
