Role Overview
This is a varied and hands‑on Assistant Accountant position, supporting the day‑to‑day finance function while contributing to the smooth running of the wider accounts team. Working closely with colleagues across finance, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end processes, and ensuring suppliers and customers receive a professional service.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant:
- Process purchase ledger invoices, match invoices to purchase orders and resolve supplier queries.
- Support weekly payment runs, bank transaction posting and credit control activities.
- Complete bank reconciliations and assist with VAT return preparation.
- Support the production of monthly management accounts and wider finance team activities.
Requirements of the Assistant Accountant:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant role.
- Qualified by Experience (QBE), AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong numerical and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
