A well-established and growing engineering business based in the South West is looking to expand its workshop team. The organisation designs and builds special purpose machinery for a varied customer base and is recognised for its strong engineering standards, investment in quality, and supportive team culture.
The Role
This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a busy production environment. The role focuses on the build and assembly of bespoke machinery, working from detailed engineering drawings and contributing directly to the delivery of high-quality, precision-engineered equipment.
Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter:
- Assemble special purpose machinery and sub-assemblies to engineering drawings and specifications
- Fit mechanical components including bearings, gears, and taper lock pulleys
- Install pneumatic and hydraulic pipework as part of machine builds
- Carry out quality checks and maintain a safe, organised working environment
Requirements of the Mechanical Fitter:
- Time-served Mechanical Fitter or Engineer with a recognised mechanical qualification
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Experience working with hand tools and power tools in an assembly environment
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics, with fabrication experience advantageous
