Senior Product Owner required to join a global data analytics business serving the energy and commodities sector. The organisation is investing heavily in technology and is now building an AI-native data platform that will fundamentally reshape how its insight, analytics, and consulting services are delivered and commercialised. This is a greenfield product role with genuine ownership. You will join at an early stage and play a central role in defining the platform's vision, shaping how it evolves, and helping the wider business adopt a more modern, product-led mindset.
The Role
As Senior Product Owner, you will work closely with the Chief Product Officer and senior stakeholders to shape product strategy and translate that vision into delivery. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, data science, commercial teams, and clients ensuring the platform is technically robust, commercially valuable, and genuinely useful to end users. The platform is being built using Python, Snowflake, and AWS, and while you won’t be hands-on coding, strong data literacy and comfort working in a technical environment are essential. This is a fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environment. There is very little inherited process, which means significant freedom and responsibility to build the right things in the right way.
Key Responsibilities
- Help define and evolve the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a new data platform
- Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing commercial value, client needs, and technical feasibility
- Work closely with engineering and data science teams to deliver scalable, high-quality features and capabilities
- Engage directly with clients, subject-matter experts, and partners to gather feedback, test ideas, and validate solutions
- Help embed agile and product best practices, shaping ways of working as the platform and team scale
- Use data, KPIs, and user feedback to measure success and inform ongoing product decisions
- Identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation as the business expands organically and through acquisition
About You
- Experience as a Product Owner within a data-intensive or technical environment
- Comfortable operating in greenfield or scale-up settings, where ambiguity is high and ownership is expected
- Strong technical literacy, with exposure to data platforms, cloud infrastructure, or Data/AI/ML enabled products
- Confident working autonomously, showing initiative and curiosity while knowing when to engage senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with experience working directly with clients and translating complex requirements into product outcomes
- Experience or understanding of energy, oil & gas, commodities, or adjacent markets would be a significant advantage
Why Join?
- A rare opportunity to shape a platform from the ground up and see it through end to end
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and real influence over product direction
- Clear opportunities for progression as the business continues to grow and acquire
- Be part of a company building solutions that drive real-world impact
