Senior Business Central Support Consultant required to join an established technology consultancy based in Gateshead (remote with occasional travel). This is a support role focused on Microsoft Dynamics 365, with a particular emphasis on ERP platforms such as Dynamics NAV and Business Central. You will be responsible for supporting a variety of customers across their live environments, troubleshooting escalated 2nd line issues and helping users get the most from their systems.

The Organisation

This is an established technology consultancy specialising in Microsoft business applications, working with customers across a range of sectors to deliver and support business-critical technology solutions. The business has a strong focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the wider Power Platform, supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of their systems. As the customer base continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their dedicated support capability with someone who can provide reliable, high-quality application support. The support team is currently small, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to have a genuine impact on how the function develops. There are plans in place for this function to grow significantly in the near future, so there is genuine opportunity to progress to a Team Lead position when the team grows.

The Role

This is a hands-on Dynamics BC Support role focused on supporting existing customers and resolving issues across their live environments. You will manage support tickets from investigation through to resolution or escalation, troubleshooting application issues, applying fixes and working directly with end users. A key focus will be supporting Dynamics NAV / Dynamics 365 Business Central, so previous ERP support experience is important. You will also gain exposure to the wider Microsoft ecosystem, including Dynamics 365 and Power Platform technologies such as Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate.

What They’re Looking For

  • Experience providing ERP support within a Microsoft environment (2nd line)
  • Experience supporting Dynamics NAV or Dynamics 365 Business Central (2nd line)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose application and user issues
  • Experience working directly with customers or end users in a support environment
  • Good understanding of business processes, particularly areas such as finance, sales or operations
  • Experience working with support tickets, SLAs, incident management and appropriate escalation
  • Experience supporting/mentoring less experienced colleagues would be beneficial
  • Exposure to Power Platform would be beneficial

The Offer

You will receive a salary of up to £42,000, with the role operating on a remote first basis (occasional but rare travel to Gateshead) and working Monday to Friday on either an 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm shifts. This is a great opportunity to join an established Microsoft technology consultancy where you will gain exposure to a range of customers, business processes and Dynamics technologies. There is also genuine scope to develop your career and, for the right person, progress into a leadership position within the support function.

How to prepare for a job interview at Cathcart Technology

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Cathcart Technology uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
