Network Engineer initially on a 12-month FTC required to join a globally recognised organisation in Glasgow undergoing significant investment across its enterprise infrastructure environment. The Role
As Network Engineer, you'll have responsibility for delivering 3rd line support across a complex global network environment. The role will focus on maintaining the stability, performance, and security of enterprise network services while supporting ongoing infrastructure improvements and project work. You'll work across a broad technical landscape covering LAN, WAN, wireless, routing, firewalls, cloud connectivity, and network monitoring technologies. This is a varied role combining operational support, troubleshooting, vendor collaboration, and technical implementation within a fast-paced enterprise environment. You'll also participate in an on-call rota and support occasional out-of-hours maintenance activity where required.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing 3rd line support across a global enterprise network environment
- Troubleshooting complex networking and connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless technologies
- Supporting the ongoing availability, resilience, and performance of critical network infrastructure
- Working closely with third-party providers to investigate and resolve technical issues
- Supporting implementation and upgrade activity across network and security platforms
- Ensuring network services align with security standards and operational controls
- Producing technical documentation, implementation plans, and support procedures
- Collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, security, and service teams across multiple regions
What We're Looking For
- Strong enterprise networking experience within complex multi-site environments
- Advanced troubleshooting capability across network and security technologies
- Strong Cisco networking experience including Nexus switching environments
- Knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
- Experience supporting enterprise wireless environments, ideally Aruba
- Strong understanding of firewall technologies such as Palo Alto or Fortinet
- Experience working with MPLS, VPN, QoS, and WAN optimisation technologies
- Knowledge of network monitoring and management platforms such as SolarWinds or Cisco Prime
- Experience supporting secure enterprise environments with strong operational controls
- Ability to work effectively with third-party vendors and global technical teams
- CCNP or equivalent level knowledge would be highly beneficial
