We’re supporting an organisation in Auchterarder as they look to bring in an experienced IT Support Engineer to support a busy, customer-facing environment during a key period of work. This is a hands-on, fully on-site contract role, ideal for a 1st- and 2nd-line support engineer who enjoys working closely with users, delivering excellent service, and supporting Windows 11 upgrade activity alongside day-to-day IT support.
Role responsibilities:
- Acting as the first point of contact for IT-related issues, providing a friendly, professional, and high-quality support experience
- Logging, diagnosing, and resolving incidents and service requests in line with ITIL processes, escalating to L2/L3 engineers where required
- Providing hands-on troubleshooting across hardware, software, network, and system issues
- Managing IT service desk tickets, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with users
- Supporting Windows 11 upgrades and general device refresh activities
- Setting up, configuring, and maintaining laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Administering user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Supporting basic networking issues including Wi-Fi, VPN, connectivity, DNS/DHCP, VoIP, and telephony systems
- Assisting with IT projects such as system upgrades, new technology rollouts, and hardware refreshes
- Ensuring adherence to cybersecurity policies and best practices
- Interacting with colleagues and guests in a professional, warm, and courteous manner, contributing to a premium service experience
What we’re looking for:
- 1-3 years’ experience in a 1st/2nd line IT support or service desk role
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
- Good working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems
- Hands-on experience with Windows 11 upgrades or deployments
- Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Freshservice, or similar
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP)
- Good awareness of IT security best practices
- ITIL Foundation and/or Microsoft or CompTIA certifications (desirable, not essential)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset
- A proactive problem solver who works well in a fast-paced, on-site environment
- Well organised, punctual, and a strong team player with a positive “can do” attitude
Contract details:
- Start date: ASAP
- 8-week initial contract
- Outside IR35
- £175 – £180 per day
- Fully onsite – 5 days per week in Auchterarder
