Caters Media Group is looking for a journalism-trained, commercially minded multimedia specialist to join our Birmingham team. This is not a traditional newsroom role. We want someone who is comfortable moving across editorial, licensing, creator partnerships and commercial projects. At the heart of what we do is content. You might be producing a video story for MSN, licensing a viral clip from a member of the public, building a relationship with a major rights holder, clearing talent for a brand campaign or sourcing and briefing creators for paid creative. Agility is key. We need someone who can spot the wider opportunity around content, creators and rights, rather than working within a single silo.

The role:

  • Source, interview and produce strong visual stories
  • Write copy and edit/package video
  • License content and negotiate rights
  • Build relationships with creators and contributors
  • Identify wider partnership and commercial opportunities
  • Approach rights holders, talent and agents
  • Source and brief creators for paid campaigns
  • Help manage projects from idea through to delivery
  • Use audience and performance data to understand what works

You will need:

  • Formal journalism training, ideally NCTJ or equivalent
  • Strong practical knowledge of media law
  • Excellent editorial judgement and interviewing skills
  • Good multimedia and video-editing ability
  • Strong understanding of social and digital media
  • Natural communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercial confidence and the ability to negotiate
  • The ability to switch comfortably between different projects and priorities

We are looking for a 360-degree media operator who can find the story, produce the content, understand the rights, build the relationship and spot the commercial opportunity.
