Responsibilities
As a Compliance Engineer, the successful candidate will work as part of a cross‑functional engineering team to assess technical solutions that satisfy regulatory requirements for Battery, Fuel Cell, Charging and Powertrain systems.
The role will support product development teams in interpreting safety standards, identifying hazards, evaluating design options, and defining practical compliance actions.
This includes contributing to risk reduction, verification planning, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of engineering processes that enable safe, compliant and efficient delivery of new technologies and products.
The candidate will work on a range of new and exciting technologies, supporting the development of prototype machinery and customer solutions as part of the energy transition of our products.
- Support regional compliance experts and product development teams in interpreting global regulatory and safety requirements for electrified products.
- Work with engineers to assess technical solutions, identify hazards, review design alternatives, and document practical actions that support safe and compliant product development.
- Contribute to risk assessments and the identification of risk reduction measures through the product development process.
- Help define compliance and verification evidence required to demonstrate alignment with relevant product safety standards and legal requirements.
- Support the resolution of technical issues by applying recognised engineering best practices, industry standards and functional safety principles.
- Using knowledge of safe electrical design principles and best practices, ensure that safety and functional safety requirements can be met.
- Provide proactive compliance guidance from early concept development through verification and product delivery, supporting cross‑functional teams throughout the design life cycle.
Qualifications
- Risk Assessment and Safety Verification - Level Working Knowledge
- Produce, interpret and apply risk assessments, hazard analyses and safety verification records.
- Identify safety, electrical, control system and technology risks relevant to electrification products.
- Work with engineering teams to define risk reduction measures and ensure they are implemented and verified.
- Maintain clear records of the key steps, assumptions, decisions and evidence needed to support product safety and compliance conclusions.
- Product Safety Standards and Engineering Compliance - Level Working Knowledge
- Apply product safety standards and legal requirements to engineering designs and system integration decisions.
- Interpret and implement requirements from product standards such as IEC 60204‑1, ISO 12100, ISO 13849 and IEC 61508.
- Translate standards requirements into clear engineering requirements, design constraints, verification activities and compliance evidence.
- Contribute to best‑practice documentation that supports consistent engineering decisions and safe product delivery.
