About EPD: Caterpillar's Electric Power Division (EPD) offers integrated solutions, parts, and services to meet the needs of our various commercial and industrial electric power customers. EPD supports a wide range of customer applications across the globe, including providing back-up power to hospitals and supporting critical infrastructure for data centres.
The opportunity: Caterpillar NI has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Mechanic to join our team in Larne. You will be part of the facilities and maintenance team and perform work on a broad range of standard and specialized vehicles, including forklifts and battery powered pallet trucks. You will provide technical expertise and perform complex electrical/mechanical work.
What you will do:
- Repair and maintain vehicles and plant across the site.
- Use diagnostic equipment & techniques to aid in repair of faults and breakdowns.
- Ensure work is carried out to correct standards and specifications and is compliant with all statutory regulations and requirements.
- Interpret complex diagrams and electrical drawings to perform repairs on plant equipment.
- Provide accurate & detailed, digital and written records of all jobs completed.
- Provide input and feedback into day-to-day workshop operations and vehicle maintenance.
- Liaise with customers and supervisors, keeping them updated on vehicle progress.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding spare parts and procurement.
- Compliance with 5S programme and other business improvement initiatives.
- Display behaviour and conduct fitting with our Values in Action.
- Train other employees when required.
- Any other appropriate duties.
What you have:
- Formal apprenticeship or National Vocational Qualification Equivalent Mechanical/Vehicle discipline or relevant progressive work experience.
- The ability to follow and comprehend verbal, specific and detailed procedures and work instructions.
- The ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings.
- The ability to use a variety of power tools, hand tools and complex testing equipment.
- Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
- Physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the job.
- Attention to detail to meet statutory and quality standards.
- Flexible approach to working to suit requirements of business and customers.
- Comfortable in fast paced and reactive environments.
- Ability to prioritize and organize sequence of work.
- Reasonable level of computer literacy.
Additional information: No travel required unless to training course. This position requires a 4-day-a-week schedule in the office.
