Hourly Rate: £15.93 plus shift premium

About IPSD: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Guided by Caterpillar’s Lean principles, you will support operational excellence by focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. You will provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to your team, ensuring processes are followed consistently and high standards are maintained. High level tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Leading a dedicated team of operators to ensure they can conduct day to day activities
- Engage the team to always meet safety requirements and standards
- Meet production targets and feedback/escalate any issues as they arise
- Promote and maintain high workplace standards
- Build action plans to identify, root cause and eliminate issues within production
- Aim for Zero defects within your team, but help to support the investigation into any quality issues that arise
- Network amongst support groups to help drive continuous improvement
What You’ll Bring: Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience gained through previous roles:
- Proven ability to lead and support teams in achieving operational goals.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively using their own initiative.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with experience facilitating or chairing meetings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The strongest candidates will also have:
- Understanding of Perkins’ standard operating procedures and working practices.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Confidence in presenting information and communicating effectively with larger audiences, including delivering team briefings and team communications.
- Just-In-Time (JIT) training or certification.
