All apprentices will take part in a rotational training programme during the first year of the apprenticeship. The structure is designed to allow apprentices to experience different functions within Maintenance, Quality, and Research & Development. Apprentices will then select the function they wish to specialise in for the remainder of the apprenticeship. Once specialised, they will be embedded into the relevant team, solving real‑world problems.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical and electrical maintenance of plant machinery.
- Robotic and automation understanding.
- Exposure to CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines.
- Participation in the assembly, test, and finish of engines.
- Engine build and rigging activities.
- Engine and transmission testing.
- Field machine test and maintenance.
- Electric vehicle and battery testing.
- Work on the layout of rework areas and understanding of the reworking process to support customer demands.
- Stand‑alone test functionality.
Qualifications
- Good GCSEs: Five GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths, English and a science or engineering subject.
- Currently in Year One of a Mechatronics Apprenticeship, or completed one year full‑time further education and achieved Performing Engineering Operations, Level 2 (6 units) with Maths and English at Level 2.
- A‑Levels are not required. Equivalent academic qualifications to the above requirements are welcome.

Training & Development
