Salary: £66,000 to £75,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Peterborough, UK.

About IPSD: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) is recruiting a Business Manager within our Finance team focused on strategy, project leadership, and analytics support. The Business Manager will be responsible for enhanced sales and profitability analysis for global 3rd party IPSD engine sales through Dealer, Distributor & Direct channels. This role provides extensive exposure to pricing, revenue and margin reporting, alongside detailed deal and margin analysis. You will also be given the opportunity to engage across the business with data analytics to support and drive strategic growth projects, process improvements, and provide trusted financial insights to the global sales and marketing teams.

What you will do:

  • Provide Revenue and Profitability analysis on customers, regions, and markets to all levels of the global Sales organization and other key stakeholder groups within IPSD.
  • Report and translate core accounting and financial results across our business partners in SMSP Engines.
  • Understand the business strategy, market opportunities/challenges, and support the business in identifying insights and defining strategies to address.
  • Work closely with Sales Directors, IPSD leaders/stakeholders, and cross-functional team members to drive decisions and work independently to implement and execute - in alignment with the goals and strategies of the business.
  • Design and implement a Total Cost of Sales (TCoS) model for incorporating broader sales & other costs-to-serve for respective customer groups.
  • Administer and oversee a program managing Distributor financial performance and providing analysis and recommendations to drive improved, long-term distributor health.
  • Collaborate across Finance, Strategy, and Data teams to support an “Analytics Council”.
  • Engage in Deal Analysis and major commercial programs to help define, measure, and report progress, success, and areas to improve.
  • Sponsor, lead, and/or support process improvement projects and other strategic efforts to advance IPSD and the Sales & Marketing organization towards its long-term goals.

  • Proven leadership capability, both in direct coordination of business teams and in indirect leadership with business functions, peers, and senior leadership.
  • Advanced communication and influencing skills. An effective communicator skilled at building relationships across an organization.
  • Strong skillset and experience leveraging digital and visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, etc.); proven history of translating complex data into insights.

  • Organizational Leadership: Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

Additional information: This role has up to 10% travel. This role is based from the office in Peterborough 5 days a week.
