As a Team Leader you will lead and co-ordinate the quality team in the Paint Plant driving back defects and ensuring the customer receives a defect free product.
What You Will Do:
- Leading the team to meet the daily production goals on safety, quality, velocity and cost targets.
- Reinforce Caterpillar's Values in Action.
- Communicate to appropriate departments/personnel and at daily start of shift meetings.
- Actively coach, guide and mentor your team's performance and development.
- Carry out daily communications and deploy training programs to upskill teams using lean methodologies.
- Lead an inclusive, engaging safety culture.
- Clearly communicate defects to Paint Operations and support area personnel as defects are identified.
- Proactively resolve issues and generate new ideas for your assigned area using the Continuous Improvement (CI) process to improve quality, effectiveness and safety.
- Audit and drive defect investigations to ensure high quality product outputs.
- Proactively plan and cover team members absences daily.
- Provide detailed quality feedback with quality alerts and quality meetings.
- Maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility, ensure standard work is updated.
- Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost within your team operation.
- Lead the team to meet the daily demand of the job and root cause analyse events leading to process failure.
- Undertake training and further learning as required for the job and the BCP Safety Recipe.
- Maintain leadership development required learning.
- Lead and attend relevant meetings to this role.
Experience:
- Experience of the Manufacturing Quality process, BIQ, Reporting defects and root cause analysis.
- Possess a good understanding of paint practices and knowledge of paint related specifications.
- Ability to work closely with others, requiring team participation to achieve the agreed goals.
- Self-motivated, with the flexibility to deal with independent and team behaviours.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Highly organised and a keen attention to detail.
- Must be flexible and support extra hours if required and willing to work on a multi shift pattern.
What you may have:
- Previous people development and performance management experience.
- 6 Sigma / Project management.
- Previous supervisory experience desirable.
- Knowledge of Paint Processes.
Salary: £35,247 rising progressively to £39,071 once role competencies are met + 20% shift premium.
