The Opportunity: Ready to make a real difference to how people learn and develop? In this Operations Learning Manager role, you’ll develop and coordinate a local learning plan for the Desford and Stockton sites, working closely with the Building Construction Products Division UK HR Manager to support skills development, apprenticeships, and future workforce needs. You’ll bring together operational training, apprenticeships, early careers, and leadership development into one clear, joined-up approach that works in practice.
What you will do: As an Operations Learning Manager, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
- Lead the development and ongoing ownership of a structured learning plan for the Desford and Stockton sites, ensuring it supports both current operational performance and future skills needs.
- Putting practical processes in place to identify current and future training needs across the shopfloor, leadership, and professional roles.
- Designing training programmes that support safe, effective day‑to‑day operations and align with site and business priorities.
- Working directly with managers and teams to agree training approaches, address skills gaps, and support performance improvement.
- Delivering training and hands‑on coaching and coordinating delivery through trainers, vendors, and learning technologies in a live operational environment.
- Using internal capability, external suppliers, and technology efficiently to achieve learning outcomes and value for money.
- Reviewing training effectiveness, gathering feedback, and improving content and delivery to increase impact and quality.
What You Can Demonstrate:
- Consulting: Work directly with managers and teams to understand training needs, agree practical solutions, and deliver learning that supports real operational performance.
- Problem Solving: Identify skills and performance issues, understand what’s causing them, and put effective, practical training solutions in place that work on the shopfloor.
- Instructional Design: Design clear, relevant training by setting learning goals and choosing content and delivery methods that fit the audience and the operational environment.
- Training Delivery: Deliver training and hands‑on coaching in a practical, engaging way, adapting your approach to feedback and live operational constraints.
Top Candidates will have:
- Understand how training must fit around production demands, shift patterns, and real‑time operational pressures.
- Build strong, practical working relationships with HR, operations, trainers, and suppliers to ensure training is delivered smoothly and adopted on site.
- Use feedback and training outcomes to spot what can be improved and take action to strengthen learning effectiveness over time.
