Salary: £57,000 to £72,100 (depending on experience)

About Us: Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located on the outskirts of Wimborne on the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District. Positioned centrally along the south coast, it is located close to national and international transport links. With approximately 130 members of staff, there is a long and distinguished history spanning over 50 years of manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands.
Job Summary: We are looking for a dynamic and driven leader to take the Manufacturing Engineering team to the next level. In this role, you will help the whole manufacturing process run better, implementing changes to improve efficiency, leveraging new technology to modernize processes and leading a team of experienced Manufacturing Technicians and Engineers to deliver excellence to both internal and external customers.
What You Will Do:
- Training and developing teams capable of completing business objectives and perform and support the plant operating functions.
- Coordinating tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc.
- Coordinating capital projects for process enhancement and to improve customer satisfaction, conducting research and ensuring proper approvals.
- Coordinating the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems.
- Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
- Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.
- Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization’s performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
What You must Have:
- Experience leading a Manufacturing Engineering team
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Excellent safety, quality and performance record
- Excellent communication skills
Top candidates may have:
- Engineering council accreditation (IEng, CEng etc.)
- SAP ERP operating system knowledge
- 5-10 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering team
- Knowledge of diesel engines and generators
- Knowledge of hybrid/battery technology/electrification
