Salary/Grade: £35,119 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Larne

The opportunity: We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Caterpillar (N.I.) situated at Larne. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within the Caterpillar Electric Power team. As a Manufacturing Engineer at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, complex manufacturing operations and sophisticated machines. You will be involved in engineering change management to maintain safe, efficient, and stable factory operations in Larne.
What you will do:
- Develop, analyse and manage manufacturing / assembly projects.
- Assist in developing department capital and expense budgets.
- Support NPI’s, collaborating with engineering and other departments and ensuring smooth introduction into the factory.
- Coordinate Solution builds, collaborating with engineering and other departments and ensuring smooth introduction into the factory.
- Manage engineering changes in Larne, coordinating with engineering and other departments to ensure controlled and efficient introduction into the factory environment.
- Analyse bay performance including budget and developing / implementing improvements.
- Support efficiency projects & line balancing in each value stream to reach cost per hour targets and ensure efficient and cost‑effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
- Develop and maintain process documentation such as standard work and providing manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.
- Engage in creative problem solving to address operational issues including ergonomic/ safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerns.
- Coordinate the purchase and application of machine tools, controls and related equipment corporate wide to ensure the latest technology is being used to increase efficiency and economy of operations.
- Support with the design of complex or intricate jigs and fixtures.
What you have:
- Manufacturing Equipment: Participates in setting up new electrical and mechanical machines and testing according to manufacturer’s specifications. Conducts routine inspections; checks machine performance and equipment safeguards; reports standards violations.
- Problem Management Process: Experience with engineering change management and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams to ensure changes are fully assessed, planned, and smoothly introduced into production.
- Lean Manufacturing: Discusses considerations for work cell design and effectiveness monitoring. Explains issues and considerations of implementing lean in own function or area.
- Manufacturing Processes: Advises others using lean manufacturing industry experience and benchmarks for methodology effectiveness. Develops best practices documentation for all major activities and tasks.
Education: A University degree in an engineering or equivalent discipline, or higher‑level qualification and relevant engineering experience.
