Responsibilities
- Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect‑free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment.
- Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement, waste elimination and standard work.
- Operate BCP built products where required.
- Train/coach new Assembly Technicians/Apprentices to standard work instructions.
- Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).
- Participate in rapid improvement workshops (RIW) contributing process expertise.
- Adhere to the organisation’s health & safety policy and safe working practices.
- Adhere to Caterpillar’s Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork & Sustainability.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable elevated level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.
- Ability to work closely with others, requiring strong team participation.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation.
- Fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime).
- Ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.
- Prepared to undertake required training/learning.
- Must be willing to work a multi‑shift pattern.
Additional Qualifications
- Previous experience of working within a manufacturing assembly environment.
- Previous experience of working on hydraulic and electrical function checks.
- Good hydraulic, electrical, diagnostic/problem‑solving skills.
- Relevant NVQ level 2/equivalent or higher.
