Responsibilities

  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect‑free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment.
  • Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement, waste elimination and standard work.
  • Operate BCP built products where required.
  • Train/coach new Assembly Technicians/Apprentices to standard work instructions.
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).
  • Participate in rapid improvement workshops (RIW) contributing process expertise.
  • Adhere to the organisation’s health & safety policy and safe working practices.
  • Adhere to Caterpillar’s Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork & Sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable elevated level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.
  • Ability to work closely with others, requiring strong team participation.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation.
  • Fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime).
  • Ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.
  • Prepared to undertake required training/learning.
  • Must be willing to work a multi‑shift pattern.

Additional Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Previous experience of working on hydraulic and electrical function checks.
  • Good hydraulic, electrical, diagnostic/problem‑solving skills.
  • Relevant NVQ level 2/equivalent or higher.
