Salary/Grade: £40,606 - £47,500 per annum (depending on experience)

The opportunity: We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Technical Sales Solutions team at Caterpillar (N.I.) situated at Larne. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within the Caterpillar Electric Power engineering team. As the first point of technical engagement, the Technical Sales team works directly with customers to develop and deliver bespoke, engineered, and costed solutions, balancing technical capability with commercial considerations and customer expectations.
What you will do:
- Provide concept designs for gensets while meeting client needs
- Provide technical knowledge backed up with engineering reasoning and calculations
- Undertake specification compliance activities, ensuring client requirements are met while balancing product performance and engineering constraints
- Ensure accurate recording and controlled issuance of documentation for concept design cost evaluation
What you have:
- Product Design and Development: Apply engineering principles in acoustics, vibration, fluid dynamics, structures, and materials science to the design of mechanical systems and structures. Demonstrate prior experience working within a product design and development environment.
- Technical Excellence: Provide technical solutions to challenges through competent analysis and consideration of technical implications. Maintain a high level of technical performance, proactively developing skills and keeping pace with evolving technical and procedural practices.
- Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Working with Creo or similar 3D Modelling Software in a previous role. Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings in accordance with recognised standards.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on deliverables. Performs at least 2-3 concurrent activities without reducing productivity.
- Analytical Thinking: Identify multiple potential solutions by drawing on prior experience, data analysis, and current research. Evaluate and quantify costs, benefits, risks, and likelihood of success to inform sound recommendations.
- Effective Communications: Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Education: A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline or demonstrative work-related experience.
