Program Overview
The 2‑year Graduate Scheme within the Global Engine Development (GED) department at Stafford Engine Centre (SEC) offers development and maintenance of software systems supporting the department. The role includes support analysis and resolution of technical problems related to the Test Bed Control System and administration of the CAT Validation Manager task, with rotation options across business sectors. Graduates progress into roles focusing on Test Bed Control System Programming, Data Science, Engine Performance, Automated Test Sequencing, Controls and Validation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Engine test analysis; resolving technical problems with relation to the Test Bed Control Systems
- Development and maintenance of the infrastructure of IT systems that support the department to function efficiently
- Use of programming concepts for performance and emissions calibration and the acquisition of data
- Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test cells more reliable, efficient and cost‑effective
- Ensure solutions that are aligned to the current systems are best practices and comply to federal policies and procedures
- Manage updates, upgrades, and other maintenance tasks in both hardware and software areas, to make the systems more efficient, cost‑effective, and secure
- Coordination of day‑to‑day engineering activity and management of test and analysis activity
- Technical reporting
- Working to standard and agreed processes to maintain quality and compliance
- Collaborate with a multinational multidisciplinary team across global Caterpillar facilities

Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2:2 honours degree level in a relevant discipline (eligible subjects include Automotive Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Motorsport Engineering)

Recruitment Process Guidelines

Stage One – Video Interview: Selected candidates will complete a video interview.
Stage Two – Assessment Centre: Assessment on teamwork, decision‑making, communication, and problem‑solving, scheduled for 24 March 2026 onsite.
Stage Three – Offer: Offers will be extended following the assessment centre. Graduates start on 8 September 2025.
