Job Title: Sales Support Consultant

Salary/Grade: £44,980 – £56,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Larne

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Up to 12% bonus
  • Contributory pension scheme – Caterpillar will double the employee\’s contribution up to 6%
  • Contributory share scheme – Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee\’s contribution.
  • Optional flexible benefits including access to health and dental care plans, EV car lease, holiday purchase.

There is a requirement of 5 days in the office a week.

The opportunity

As the Sales Support Consultant, you will help shape business plans, identify growth opportunities, and resolve commercial challenges for our global customers. You’ll be instrumental in aligning Caterpillar’s capabilities with market demands and help our customers understand the full value of Caterpillar’s Electric Power Solutions.

Working within a team of Sales Support Consultants and Engineers, you will develop tailored outcomes for our customers to ensure their power needs are met. You will play a critical role in managing the end-to-end bid and tender process, ensuring Caterpillar’s proposals are aligned with customer needs.

What You Will Do

  • Manage submission timelines and ensure all documentation is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Support negotiations by providing technical and commercial justifications for the proposed solution.
  • Responding promptly to inquiries, anticipate and understand customer needs to deliver tailored energy solutions that resolve business challenges. Build trust through open communication, consistent follow-through, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Engage effectively with global stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Working with internal customers, dealers and international customers.
  • Help customers and dealers understand the long-term benefits of Caterpillar’s energy solution offerings and how they align with their own unique challenges.

  • Facilitates creation of the \’right\’ products and services to resolve customer business issues.
  • Fosters strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and on-going feedback/improvement.
  • Anticipates customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations.
  • Communicates and models the criticality of customer focus as an organizational strategy.

Effective Communications – Level Working Knowledge

  • Ability to engage with stakeholder across all levels of the business globally.
  • Strong writing capability through email and presentations.

Negotiating – Level Basic Understanding

  • Ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Utilises techniques for establishing rapport and building trust.

Relationship Management – Level Working Knowledge

  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Provides prompt and effective responses to client requests and interactions.
  • Alerts own team to problems in client satisfaction.
  • Works with clients to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

Value Selling – Level Basic Understanding

  • Ability to provide overall product/service \’value\’ and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
  • Presents product, technology or service costs and benefits in reaction to prospect or customer requests.
  • Action the benefits of value-based versus product selling.
  • Presents documents of proposed product/service solutions to potential customers.

Additional Information

  • There is up to 20% travel in this role.
