The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Location: Peterborough

Term: 12‑month fixed term

Hourly Rate: £15.93 plus shift premium

About IPSD:

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5,000 applications including marine, petroleum, industrial, electric generators and locomotives. IPSD is actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

Opportunity:

Are you a motivated Team Lead who thrives on developing people, driving performance, and creating a culture of continuous improvement? In this role you will create a safe, productive, and engaged working environment where people can perform at their best. Guided by Caterpillar’s Lean principles, you will support operational excellence by focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. You will provide day‑to‑day direction, coaching and support to your team, ensuring processes are followed consistently and high standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a dedicated team of operators to ensure they can conduct day‑to‑day activities
  • Engage the team to always meet safety requirements and standards
  • Meet production targets and feedback/escalate any issues as they arise
  • Promote and maintain high workplace standards
  • Build action plans to identify, root cause and eliminate issues within production
  • Aim for zero defects within your team and support investigation into any quality issues that arise
  • Network with support groups to drive continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven ability to lead and support teams in achieving operational goals
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and able to work effectively using own initiative
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with experience facilitating or chairing meetings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of Perkins’ standard operating procedures and working practices
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Confidence in presenting information and communicating effectively with larger audiences, including delivering team briefings and team communications
  • Just‑In‑Time (JIT) training or certification

Additional Information:

This fixed‑term contract role is based at the Peterborough facility and will require shift work in line with business requirements.
