Location: Peterborough, UK

Salary: £49,500 to £61,000 (depending on experience)

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. The strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

Role Definition

Performs analysis to identify and develop business improvement opportunities and evaluate return on investment (ROI) of these opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, define, and implement integrated supply chain solutions and performance improvements, building internal and external alliances to explore opportunities.
  • Establish effective linkages, partnerships, and best practices with business partners and internal functions.
  • Investigate and incorporate industry benchmarks, metrics, and best practices to develop optimal supply chains for suppliers and/or product sets.
  • Develop and analyze data and information to identify and prioritize opportunities for improving performance, creating more cost-effective supply chains, inventory utilization, and business partnerships.

Additional Information

This position requires working onsite five days a week. EU travel 10-20% of the time.

Degree Requirement: Degree or equivalent experience desired.

  • Procurement: Knowledge of buying and procurement; ability to work with organisational strategies and practices, and use tools for buying goods, supplies, equipment and services needed to conduct business.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of decision-making processes and associated tools and techniques; ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions.
  • Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, and implementing more efficient approaches.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine root causes and create alternative solutions.
  • Supply Chain Management – MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling logistics.

Experience Levels: Extensive experience required for all skill descriptors, including monitoring procurement policies, selecting suppliers, evaluating alternative sourcing strategies, developing contingency plans, and overseeing supply chain finance activities.
