Salary: £79,424 + Dependent Upon Experience

Location: Peterborough, UK

Position Summary: As Senior Manager, Payroll, you will lead the connection between Payroll and Finance, ensuring payroll data flows accurately and efficiently to Tax, Treasury, Accounting, and other downstream stakeholders. You will play a critical role in transforming how payroll information moves through the organization by simplifying processes, driving automation and strengthening controls. Your work will ensure payroll data is reliable, scalable, and readily consumable by Finance teams across the enterprise. This is a highly visible role that sits at the center of the company's global payroll transformation and requires strong partnership across Payroll, Finance, HR, and IT functions.

What You'll Do:

  • Govern the end-to-end payroll-to-finance process, ensuring payroll information is accurate, timely, and usable by Tax, Treasury, Accounting, and other downstream stakeholders.
  • Simplify and modernize how payroll data moves across the organization, reducing manual effort and improving data quality.
  • Champion automation, standardization, and stronger controls to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with Finance leaders to resolve operational challenges and implement scalable solutions ensuring payroll accounting, reconciliations, funding activities, and compliance requirements are executed accurately and effectively.
  • Serve as a key leader in the company's multi-year global payroll transformation, helping shape future-state processes and technology solutions.

  • Payroll data flows seamlessly to Finance with minimal manual intervention.
  • Payroll accounting, tax reporting, and treasury funding processes are accurate, efficient, and well-controlled.
  • Manual reconciliations and workarounds are eliminated through automation and process improvements.
  • Finance teams spend less time chasing data and more time using it.
  • Global payroll transformation initiatives deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

What You Will Have:

  • Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Payroll Management: Knowledge of payroll policy and methods; ability to use tools, techniques and processes to manage employee payroll and benefits operations.
  • Change Impact Assessment: Knowledge of tools, techniques, procedures, and advantages of change impact assessment; ability to use this knowledge to understand the impact of a proposed change on stakeholders, processes, structures, and tools of an organization.
  • Human Resources Consulting: Knowledge of HR approaches, tools and techniques; ability to inform, guide and advise managers in HR-related initiatives.
  • Human Resources Operations: Knowledge of human resources (HR) policies, operational processes and considerations; ability to implement HR related tasks, processes, and projects to ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading process improvement, automation, or transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams in a global environment.
  • Working knowledge of Workday HCM, Payroll and FINS strongly desired.

Additional Information: Up to 25% travel. This role is not hybrid and will require 100% on site attendance.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
