Opportunity
As a Data Scientist, you will be an integral part of our dedicated analytics team, focused on supporting the development of data‑driven insights and tools that help Caterpillar and its customers navigate the energy transition.
You will work with a range of stakeholders, including Business Development, Marketing, and Engineering teams, to analyse machine and operational data and contribute to the development of customer‑focused analytics solutions.
This role provides an opportunity to apply data science skills to real‑world challenges such as machine electrification, total cost of ownership (TCO), and operational optimisation.
You will support the development of analytical models and tools that inform business decisions and enhance customer understanding.
You will also benefit from exposure to Caterpillar’s global centres of excellence, with opportunities to collaborate and learn in areas such as Dev Ops, cloud platforms, containerisation, and emerging technologies including Generative AI.
This role offers strong development opportunities, enabling you to build both technical expertise and a broader understanding of how data science is applied across the organisation.
- What Will You Do
- Direct data gathering, mining, and processing for large volumes; create appropriate data models.
- Explore, promote, and implement semantic data capabilities through natural language processing, text analysis, and machine‑learning techniques.
- Define requirements and scope of data analyses; present and report possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies.
- Conduct research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy of data analyses.
