About IPSD:
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) is responsible worldwide for design, manufacturing, sales, support and marketing of industrial engines (0.5–18L) under the Cat and Perkins brands, including diesel, gas, alternative fuels and electric solutions. IPSD also manages the Energy & Transportation Procurement organization, responsible for sourcing strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
Job Summary:
Consult and lead projects for technology‑related issues to support customers in meeting business objectives, adhering to QAD manufacturing and assembly plant standards and processes. Responsibilities include solution governance, design, estimating, deployment, optimization and Level 4 support of QAD templates.
What You Will Do:
- Solution Governance / Deployment: Ensure solution design is consistent with defined EA and/or P2P application roadmaps. Ensure solution design accounts for and is consistent with P2P lifecycle management. Validate and sign off on 3rd‑party deliverables (coding, testing, documentation).
- Design: Gather business requirements. Document functional and technical specifications for solution development. Document master data requirements for solution development, testing and execution. Document test scenarios for solution validation (unit, integration, UAT). Represent solution design in integrated design reviews prior to development hand‑off.
- Level 4 Support: Provide process and deep technical support to facilitate production incident resolution. Ensure change requests are appropriate and consistent with application roadmaps.
- Communication: Work with Cat partners, GIS peers and 3rd‑party providers. Provide weekly updates on status, risk and issues to BU and GIS leadership.
- Optimization: Identify and train facilities to utilize template solutions.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related technology discipline.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of current QAD architecture, technical direction and long‑term roadmaps. Background in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, Mfg quality and machine maintenance.
Experience: IT experience, including ERP‑related experience. Digital manufacturing or shop‑floor experience.
Business Knowledge: Strong customer focus and ability to influence. Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization. Understanding of both technology and business domains. Knowledge of business operations, technical infrastructure and general business processes.
Additional Information:
Up to 15% travel (mainly UK/US). This position requires working onsite five days a week. Visa sponsorship not available.
