Salary Grade: £66,000 + depending on experience

Location: Peterborough

About IPSD: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary: A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Category Management Project Lead to join our Sales, Marketing, Servicing & Parts (SMSP) Aftermarket team. As the Category Management Project Lead you will be responsible for ownership of multiple categories of parts where you will identify, evaluate, and develop initiatives that drive sales growth objectives and profitability.

Some of the key areas include Products, Price, Promotion and Place and ensuring our network has sufficient sales training and support for successful implementation, leading research of growth and expansion opportunities, project leadership and providing expertise in the development and implementation for the lifecycle of our products and services.

Additional Information: Travel: 10% global. This position requires working onsite five days a week.

What You Will Do:

  • Be an extension of the sales team to help grow category sales.
  • Analyze the business objective and opportunities to develop and align the marketing strategies.
  • Conduct market/competitive research to identify new opportunities and industry trends.
  • Establish metrics to monitor and review the effectiveness of existing marketing strategies and suggest necessary interventions for improvement.
  • Maintain effective internal communications in the marketing department to discuss and align the marketing strategy to the changing organizational scenarios.

Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

Facilitates creation of the 'right' products and services to resolve customer business issues. Fosters strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback/improvement. Advises others on creating customer focused environments in various scenarios. Anticipates customer needs, focusing efforts to proactively meet needs and exceed customer expectations.

Collaboration: Demonstrates experience engendering collaborative processes that lead to problem solving and the achievement of business goals. Establishes shared goals to foster collaboration. Implements methods for people to come together on the fly to make decisions, solve problems, and develop products/services.

Develops a clear and complete understanding of needs and problems through careful listening, probing, reflecting, and summarizing. Develops a marketing communication strategy that focuses on promoting the distinctive value proposition of the product or service being offered.
