About Us: Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located on the outskirts of Wimborne on the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District. With approximately 130 members of staff, there is a long and distinguished history spanning over 50 years of manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands.
The Opportunity: This role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering foundation who is eager to apply analytical and simulation techniques to solve real-world product and system challenges. You'll bring sound technical knowledge, a curious and methodical approach to problem solving, and a desire to develop your expertise in simulation and virtual engineering.
As part of the Engineering team, you'll work closely with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and test engineers to support the development of Caterpillar products. Using simulation and analysis tools, you'll help evaluate the performance, reliability, and robustness of components and systems, providing the technical insights that guide engineering decisions and product improvements.
You’ll be responsible for executing simulation activities and delivering accurate, timely analysis that supports project objectives. Working with stakeholders across the business, you'll help define engineering problems, assess potential solutions, and communicate clear recommendations based on data-driven analysis. Your work will have a direct impact on product development, validation processes, and the successful delivery of new technologies.
This is a varied and challenging role that requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly. You’ll contribute to multiple projects, balancing technical rigour with practical engineering judgement while working within project schedules and business priorities.
While you may already have experience with engineering analysis, modelling, or simulation tools, we’ll support your continued development through exposure to a broad range of products, technologies, and engineering challenges. - Collaborate with the engineering teams to develop and execute projects.

- Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain and test teams to robustly deliver new and improved products.
- Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques.
- Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
