Responsibilities
- As a Team Leader you will lead and coordinate the quality team in the Paint Plant, driving back defects and ensuring the customer receives a defect‑free product.
- Leading the team to meet daily production goals on safety, quality, velocity and cost targets.
- Reinforce Caterpillar’s Values in Action in daily start‑of‑shift meetings.
- Actively coach, guide and mentor team performance and development.
- Carry out daily communications and deploy training programs to upskill teams using lean methodologies.
- Lead an inclusive and engaging safety culture.
- Clearly communicate defects to Paint Operations and support area personnel as defects are identified.
- Proactively resolve issues and generate new ideas via the Continuous Improvement process to improve quality, effectiveness and safety.
- Audit and drive defect investigations to ensure high quality product outputs.
- Proactively plan and cover team members’ absences daily.
- Provide detailed quality feedback with quality alerts and quality meetings.
- Maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility, ensuring standard work is updated.
- Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost within the team operation.
- Lead the team to meet daily demand and root cause analyse events leading to process failures.
- Undertake training and further learning as required for the job and the BCP Safety Recipe.
- Maintain leadership development required learning.
- Lead and attend relevant meetings to this role.
Qualifications
- Experience of the manufacturing quality process, BIQ, reporting defects and root cause analysis.
- Good understanding of paint practices and knowledge of paint related 1Especs.
- Team participation required to achieve agreed goals.
- Self‑motivated; flexible to deal with independent and team behaviours; able to motivate and influence others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident to eradicate behaviours not in line with company values.
- Highly organised and keen attention to detail.
- Must be flexible and support extra hours if required, willing to work on a multi‑shift pattern.
