The Opportunity
As a Manufacturing Project Engineer you support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing.
What You Will Do
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects, working with internal and external suppliers to support or improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
- Implement major systems and coordinate them with the total plant.
- Communicate with suppliers to analyse their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying them to improve process and/or product.
- Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators to develop high‑quality products and processes.
- Focus on the control and development of laser, press, and machining processes.
What You Can Demonstrate
- Problem solving: Understanding different ways to spot, predict, and fix problems in how a company runs or how work gets done, and choosing the right method to solve problems in different situations.
- Project management: Planning and running projects, organising tasks, tracking progress, and using people and tools effectively to meet project goals.
- Lean manufacturing: Understanding the principles and methods of lean manufacturing, focusing on reducing waste and improving efficiency, and applying them to improve production processes.
- Manufacturing best practices and standards: Knowing the best ways and rules to make manufacturing safer, faster, and more effective, and creating and using these practices to improve product design, manufacture and delivery.
- Change control – MFG: Understanding how to handle changes in the production process, including identifying, reviewing, approving, tracking, and recording changes to ensure smooth and safe operations.
What You May Have
- Degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Six Sigma Green Belt.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
