Overview
We are looking for an EHS Associate to support programmes and initiatives at our Larne facility. The role supports development, implementation and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety systems in line with UK and Northern Ireland legislation, Caterpillar corporate requirements, and a Safety Driven culture.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of EHS programmes in alignment with legal requirements, Caterpillar policies and site objectives.
- Promote and actively support Caterpillar’s Safety Driven culture, encouraging personal ownership of safety at all levels of the organisation.
- Assist with the development, review and implementation of site EHS procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Deliver or support EHS training and awareness activities for employees and contractors.
- Participate in workplace inspections, audits and monitoring activities to identify hazards, assess risk and support corrective actions.
- Support environmental compliance activities, including recordkeeping and monitoring, where applicable.
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation and records in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support incident reporting, investigation and learning processes, including identification of root causes and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering and support functions to integrate EHS considerations into daily work activities.
Qualifications
- EHS Policy and Legal Compliance: Familiarity with UK and Northern Ireland health and safety legislation and regulatory expectations. Applies Caterpillar EHS standards to ensure the workplace is safe for people and the environment.
- Process Management: Ability to understand and support existing EHS and operational processes.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Experience maintaining accurate EHS records, reports and documentation. Processes detailed information reliably and consistently. Balances efficiency with precision in day‑to‑day activities.
- Initiative: Demonstrates a proactive approach to identifying hazards and improvement opportunities. Seeks opportunities to develop EHS knowledge and skills.
- Effective Communication: Communicates and works collaboratively with employees, leaders and contractors to improve safety performance. Delivers constructive feedback focused on behaviours and safe outcomes. Listens openly to feedback and adjusts communication approach as required. Prepares written reports, training materials and presentations relevant to the role.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Effectively manages competing priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Delivers assigned work to agreed timescales and quality expectations. Maintains progress across multiple tasks without compromising safety or accuracy.
Top Candidates Will Have
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or working towards this qualification.
- Previous experience supporting health, safety and/or environmental activities within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
