Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and peer review standard works documentation for preventative maintenance activities and use of machine tools within the department.
  • Develop and document safe procedures for all planned maintenance tasks as well as the creation of dynamic systems to control unplanned works.
  • Review requirements to ensure that maintenance team are competent to the standard work processes.
  • Mentor trainees and apprentices driving their development into future maintenance engineers.
  • Provide technical assistance whilst developing knowledge to fault find on both mechanical and electrical issues, including sourcing of spare parts and the setting of spare parts stock management.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Project experience, driving process improvements and capital investments.
  • Understanding of techniques used to diagnose problems and malfunctions in a wide variety of manufacturing equipment.
  • Examples of development of procedures for preventive and reactive measures to help improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Mentoring experience of trainees or apprentices.
  • Understanding of maintenance planning processes and systems to meet best practice and regulations.
  • Experience creating process instructions/standard work and risk assessments.
  • Experience with COSHH assessments and best practices of use of chemicals such as metal working fluids.
  • Understanding of using CAD modelling software packages for layout development and design of bespoke items supporting maintenance needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in engineering or manufacturing or equivalent experience, ideally a time-served maintenance apprenticeship.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • Project management qualification, Green Belt or equivalent.
  • Experience of Contractor management and permitting.
  • Leadership experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: starting salary of £37,900 rising to £42,000 once fully competent.
