As an Offline Test Technician, you will operate as part of a team within the off‑line process responsible for the fitment/rework and test of parts/products to Caterpillar's acceptance standards. Your primary role is to test, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul a variety of components to strict Safety & Quality requirements. You will accumulate and record test data as required for each product tested, calibrate and maintain test stations while complying with all Quality Test processes and procedures, and assist in delivering daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the off‑line process and carry out testing and quality checks.
- Maintain working areas 5S.
- Fit parts to machinery and equipment.
- Make quality control checks on products.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
Expected capabilities:
- Perform evaluation, functional testing, and basic troubleshooting of product in a quality manner, following procedure and within time constraints, while adhering to all health, safety and environmental standards.
- Perform in‑process and/or final assembly tests.
- Cross‑train to learn skills necessary to be competent in a variety of positions.
- Collate data and perform failure analysis while contributing productively.
- Act and operate safely at all times, following safety procedures and requirements.
- Learn and develop technically, understand basic circuits, read and interpret basic schematic drawings.
Must have:
- Demonstrable ability to operate technical IT testing equipment.
- Operate to tight deadlines and cycle times.
- High level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy.
- Fully flexible approach to the job role and responsibilities (willing to work overtime).
- Thorough working knowledge of the area and built experience of the workstations within which you will be working.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.
- Attention to detail, able to work with own initiative and be self‑motivated.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organization.
- Willingness to undertake required training/learning.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing assembly environment including test equipment.
- Technical degree or equivalent electronic test and troubleshooting skills commensurate with a technical degree.
