Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect‑free assembly of parts and components, using various hand/power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.
  • Work on several stations to support planned and unplanned absences.
  • Train/coach Assembly Technicians/Apprentices to standard work instructions.
  • Operate BCP built machines where required.
  • Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work.
  • Participate in product/process improvement dialogues as required.
  • Cover the Team Leader's role in their absence.
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).
  • Adhere to the company's Health and Safety policy and safe working practices.
  • Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork, Sustainability.
  • Undertake training and further learning as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy.
  • Initiative and strong communication, interpersonal & organisational skills.
  • The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.
  • Attention to detail, able to work with own initiative and self‑motivated.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organization.
  • Willing to undertake required training/learning.
  • Must be willing to work a multi‑shift pattern.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough working knowledge of assembly duties and build experience.
  • Experience shows ability to drive RCCA.
  • Fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime).

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Shift: 16:30-02:30 Monday to Wednesday, 16:30-02:00 Thursday
  • Location: Desford, Leicestershire
  • Salary: £28,900 starting salary rising to £30,450 once role competencies are met + 20% shift allowance
  • Benefits: 27 days annual leave + bank holidays – option to buy or sell, Production Bonus, Flexible Buy‑In Benefits such as Private Medical, Health Care, Dental & Vision scheme and more, Share Scheme (50% Company Matched), Contributory Pension Scheme (Contribution double by Company up to 10%)
