The Opportunity
Are you someone who can inspire change and innovation? We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who is ready to dive straight in! You will lead a team of Engineers, Technicians and apprentices developing manufacturing processes, tooling and tool design, and equipment necessary to successfully and economically produce Caterpillar’s world class Telehandler.
Accountabilities:
- Overseeing manufacturing engineering teams and developing the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions.
- Monitor and report on project health, including issue management to ensure People, Quality, Velocity and Cost targets are achieved.
- Facilitate the development of manufacturing process solutions work with functional teams, using a range of tools e.g. process flows, PFMEA’s, control plans.
- Promote lean and quality as a focus within the business.
- Project management – Full scope, development, budgets, resources and management of NPI or Improvement projects (Technology/Efficiency/Quality) from initiation to production and program completion.
- Leading tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc.
- Managing development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and other operating infrastructure used to realise operating goals and objectives.
- Leading the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts.

- Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
- Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organise, monitor, budgets and control projects, ensuring efficient utilisation of technical and administrative resources to achieve project targets.
- Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Expert Level In:
- Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximise organisational performance.
- Problem Management Process - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
- Leading Teams: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Experience Of:
- Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, fundamentals and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
What You May Have:
- In-depth knowledge of assembly, testing, finishing, and production processes, with the ability to optimise workflows and ensure quality standards at scale.
- Proficiency in Siemens Teamcenter, including managing complex product data and guiding teams in configuration control.
- Expertise in quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and fishbone diagrams, with the capability to lead cross-functional problem-solving and implement lasting solutions.
- Six Sigma leadership, driving process improvement projects and mentoring team members.
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent, with strong strategic and technical decision-making skills.
