The Opportunity: As Team Leader within the Product Quality Control & Weld department, you will coach and coordinate a multi-disciplinary Product Quality team performing inspections of components and products to determine conformance and providing front line support for production teams regarding issues. You, as the Team Leader, are the important link between the Section Manager and Team Members.
What you will do: As a Team Leader, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
- Continually monitor and audit Health & Safety, People, Quality, Velocity, and cost metrics within your span of control as per Caterpillar Production System (CPS Guidelines).
- Ensure all relevant information is communicated to appropriate departments/personnel.
- Hold daily start of shift/Process Improvement Dialogue meetings across all product lines.
- Respond to Quality issues and dispatch support resources as needed.
- Assist Root Cause Corrective Action investigations and activities.
- Train, coach, and develop team members and maintain training documentation.
- Proactively plan for future quality, staffing, safety, and production requirements and respond to unforeseen quality, staffing, safety, and production matters, liaising with Section Manager with an immediate corrective action plan.

- People: Lead, motivate, evaluate, and recognize employees. Understanding the skills and experience of the team to highlight gaps and/or training/development needs and builds high performing teams and talent pipelines.
- Talent Management: Actions processes on recruiting, leading, motivating, evaluating, developing, and rewarding people. Transforms resistance into support and supports those needing development.
- Quality Operations: Communicates across departments to ensure a smooth workflow. Proactively reviews daily operations to ensure Quality and production targets and forecasts are achieved.
- Safety: Proactive in managing safety standards and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Foster psychological safety and team engagement, ensuring open communication and collaboration across diverse groups.
- Process Improvement: Evaluates Quality methods and maintains focus, with team input, on promoting the continuous improvement of processes and products utilizing lean, Six Sigma and drive innovation.
- Quality Knowledge: Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and quality standards, using these to determine product/part conformity with a keen attention to detail.
