Salary: £66,079 per annum + dependent upon experience

The Opportunity: The Caterpillar Technology team in the UK has some of the most exciting engineering roles within the Caterpillar global organisation, working on the integration of electronic control systems within multiple Caterpillar products. Integration of the latest Electronics and Electrical technology helps differentiate Caterpillar products from its competitors, by enabling exceptional performance and value to the customer. Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation (engine/transmission or full electric powertrain, hydraulic systems), provide the human-machine interface (operator controls and information displays), and constantly monitor and communicate position, operation, diagnostic and prognostic information to enable machine automation, improved productivity and enhanced serviceability.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and support control system architectures and functionality for machine and technology applications.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and product teams to define and implement control strategies.
- Participate in the integration, validation, and troubleshooting of control system features.
- Contribute technical expertise to project planning, design reviews, and product development activities.
- Maintain effective collaboration across engineering disciplines and global teams.
- Maintain/manage tools and processes to support embedded control and Autosar software features.

- Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems and their applications; ability to develop embedded systems with varying levels of complexity to control the operations of the machine it is embedded within.
- Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyse and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
Top Candidates may have:
- Prior experience in control software development gained in vehicle or construction equipment control or an associated environment.
- Variant/calibration data management experience.
- An understanding of fixed-point data typing.
- Extensive MATLAB Simulink software development experience.
- Knowledge of / prior experience of AUTOSAR.
- Knowledge of Data Links (CAN/Ethernet) and Calibration/Diagnostic tools (i.e. CANape, CANalyser/CANoe).
This role is based in the office 5 days per week.
