The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Product Quality Technician to join our Quality Team in Stockton. This hands‑on role involves using precision measurement tools such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), portable CMMs, verniers, and micrometers to inspect a wide range of fabrications. You’ll play a key part in auditing, problem‑solving, and producing detailed reports, while working closely with customers, engineers, and shop‑floor teams.
What you will do:
- Acting as the first point of contact for all fabrication quality issues
- Investigating fabrication problems and identifying root causes
- Inspecting and rejecting defective materials
- Reporting quality issues during shift meetings
- Supporting stock quality checks and investigations
- Assisting with New Product Introduction (NPI) pilot builds and production launches
What you can demonstrate:
Technical Skills & Experience:- Skilled in fabrication or manufacturing environments, with the ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in using measurement tools and performing dimensional inspections, including CMM operation, essential for ensuring product quality and compliance.
- Strong communicator, able to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Confident in presenting and discussing quality reports, which is key to driving transparency and continuous improvement.
- Highly self‑motivated with a proactive approach.
- Proven success in investigating issues and driving root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and support operational excellence.
- Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Solid understanding of product and assembly processes, enabling efficient documentation and process optimisation.
Top candidates will also have:
- ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in a technical subject.
- Working knowledge of Glovia (preferred), supporting effective use of business systems.
Training & Development: You’ll receive training in Caterpillar’s design and procurement tools, along with hands‑on machine operation to deepen product understanding. Project‑dependent opportunities may also arise to collaborate with global teams in the USA, Brazil, and India.
