The local environment and sustainability of the facility has grown in importance over the last 5 years. As such, Caterpillar requires a full-time individual at the Stockton facility who is hardworking and dedicated to improving and maintaining the environmental standards of the facility, promoting good environmental practices, and helping with the development and coaching of others.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • A project that, with the support from the Environmental Manager, establishes a way for the facility to gain an understanding of the facilities’ carbon emissions and track these emissions.
  • Submission of monthly corporate environmental metrics.
  • Maintain compliant waste reporting through the waste carriers Stockton engages with.
  • Maintain Stockton’s certification to ISO standard 14001.
  • Ensuring the facility stays environmentally compliant by working to the BCP UK Compliance calendar and conducting weekly checks of environmental compliance.
  • Either hosting or being present in all environmental meetings.
  • Co-ordinate and undertake environmental audits to ascertain the level of compliance across the site and engage with managers on actions to ensure closure.
  • Working alongside the UK Environmental Manager and Desford & Stockton’s leadership team to support the facilities environmental aims.
  • Assisting teams that work on or around the environment to raise awareness of their impacts and ensure compliance and best practice is followed.
  • Work with Environmental Manager and site leads to drive our Multi-Generational Project Plan for sustainability (MGPP).
  • Conducting contractor audits to ensure waste is handled correctly and individuals are following site rules.
  • Audit completion of site planned maintenance’s (PM’s) for equipment that directly impacts the environment.
  • Organise with the training and development team / deliver in house developed Environmental training / Tool Box Talks (TBT’s).
  • Complete environmental Duty of Care visits with waste carriers.
  • Engage with support functions to deliver their environmental aims as they align to the facilities objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Good record keeping skills are paramount in this role for ensuring compliance.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft applications.
  • The role requires a self-motivated individual that can balance a lot of administrative tasks and a large workload whilst working to strict deadlines.
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to speak to leadership members in a clear and collaborative manner.
  • Have a basic knowledge of environmental laws and be prepared to gain an environmental IEMA / ISEP qualification.
