Salary: £84,857 per annum + Dependent Upon Experience

About IPSD: Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary: Provide cost management leadership and collaboration with Engine Product and Procurement Groups supporting the delivery of best cost solutions to meet critical product development and continuous improvement goals. Plan, direct, and lead the activities for a staff of cost engineers to ensure projects, initiatives, and processes comply with established timelines and objectives.
Additional Information: Travel Requirements – 25% global. Position is located in Peterborough, UK and is required to be on site for effective collaboration with associated team and business partners.
Required Education (minimum) – Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
What You Will Do: Provide leadership to a team of Cost Engineers located in strategic global locations working to deliver robust cost modeling support for various high visibility and strategic New Product Introduction projects. Provide critical technical and commercial support on material costs to Engine Product Groups through establishing best cost solutions via such tools / processes as design level deep dive cost analysis, competitive engine analysis, and should cost modeling to ensure cost effective solutions are released to production. Collaborate with Procurement Professionals, Engineering, and Data Scientists to identify commercial opportunities on the improvement of purchased material pricing utilizing data analytics against commercial and technical attributes. Responsible to continuously develop and improve upon best practices and processes for tactical cost management, long-term cost alignment, and individual team member skills / capabilities developments.
What You Have: Basic Qualifications: Strong technical background (engineering degree preferred in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering) though other engineering qualifications / experience will be considered.
Top Candidates May Also Have Experience With: Off-highway engine product design and development experience. Understanding of Caterpillar’s supply network, Purchasing Practices, and engineering design practices.
