To support the Shrewsbury facility, which has an average operational population of around 250 people, we are looking to recruit an EHS Manager to lead the health and safety requirements. The successful candidate will lead EHS initiatives across all areas of the business to meet our overall strategy to get everyone home safely every day, as well as being responsible for the workload and development of an EHS Associate. In this role you will drive strategic vision for the facility. You will be empowered to find new and innovative ways to engage not only facility leadership but the hourly operations team as well. This also includes leading and administration of the facility strategic plan each year regarding the Caterpillar Safety Recipe.

What You Will Do:

  • Identify common EHS hazards inherent in the organization’s operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Ensure EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives.
  • Audit safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Monitor periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.

What You Have:

  • Safety qualifications/degree qualified or extensive progressive experience in safety roles or projects, within an EHS environment.
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Extensive Experience can be demonstrated by the following:
  • Determines criteria for assessing vendors which may have potential environmental impact.
  • Formulates health and safety plans and policies, e.g. a fire safety plan and road safety policy.
  • Trains employees on HSE policy compliance and measures understanding.
  • Designs an incident report form and reporting procedures for EHS management.
  • Collaborates across multiple departments to facilitate EHS management.
  • Controls pollution and minimizes waste of materials, energy and water within the organization.
  • Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization’s exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Overcoming Resistance to Change: Understanding and insight into the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable and ability to overcome resistance and adapt to a complex and changing environment.
  • Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Top Candidates will also have:

    This role offers hybrid working, with a min. of 3 days in the office per week.
