We are looking for a Nursery Cook to join our friendly team in a wonderful family-run nursery based in Richmond House Kindergarten in Hale, Altrincham. This is an absolutely delightful job working in a beautiful nursery on the edge of Hale village with an amazing team. The hours for this role are flexible between 25 and 30 hours per week. The options are:

  • Monday - Friday, 8.45am - 2.45pm all year round, 30 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 9.30am - 2.30pm all year round, 25 hours per week

About You:

  • Our aim is to inspire healthy, happy, and confident children. Your role will be to prepare lovely, home cooked food for our children.
  • You will be allergy aware and will prepare freshly cooked traditional meals, whilst maintaining our Food Standards Agency 5* rating.
  • A Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification would be an advantage, but online training is available on appointment to the position.

Except for occasional training you are not required to work evening or weekends. The setting is closed on all bank holidays, and over Christmas until the first working day in the New Year.

Main duties:

  • To be responsible in conjunction with the Nursery Manager for planning healthy and balanced menus
  • To prepare meals according to individual dietary requirements where necessary
  • To ensure meals/snacks are safely prepared, nutritionally balanced, of good quality and appropriate in quantity following the correct guidance.
  • Be clear about the regulation relating to allergies and provide adequate information to parents about the contents of meals provided
  • To wash-up crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals
  • To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessment within the kitchen area, including all record keeping relevant to the post
  • To be responsible for food safety within the nursery including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation
  • To maintain an agreed high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.

Safeguarding is our first priority. The successful applicant will need to provide evidence of their ‘right to work in the UK’, undertake a DBS, and provide satisfactory work references before they start their contract.
