Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Caterpillar Shrewsbury for a permanent machinist, Reporting to the salvage and machining team leader. You must be confident in understanding and following standard work, using measuring equipment, understand the importance of quality products and fine tolerances.
Working hours: 07:30 – 17:15 Monday to Thursday.
What You Will Do:
- Conform to all health and safety and environmental procedures.
- Ensure parts meet drawing specification using quality database IE AQE.
- Following Non-conforming Material process e.g. Raising NCMR’s
- PDI finished products using the quality gate process.
- Repair damaged threads and make good using HELICOIL's and inserts.
- Machining and honing engine crankcases.
- Remanufacturing cylinder heads and cylinder packs.
- Perform machine / equipment daily inspection checks.
What You Have:
- A flexible approach to learn multiple processes.
- Basic understanding of machining principles.
- Ability to use own initiative.
Key Skills required for successful assignment:
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Ability to use various Measuring Equipment
- Good Computer Skills
- Ability to Repair threads.
- Working with a manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of lean manufacturing

- Manufacturing experience.
