Salary: £24,526 - £31,375 depending on experience

Location: Aberdeen, Scotland

Job Summary: We are looking for motivated people to join our Aberdeen Service Centre as Iron Technicians. This opportunity is open to candidates at different stages of their career, from those with no previous oil and gas or workshop experience who are keen to learn, through to experienced technicians. You will work as part of a skilled team supporting SPM Oil & Gas work scopes under the direction of the Workshop Supervisor(s), with training, coaching and progression based on your existing skills, experience and performance.

What You Will Do:

  • Depending on your experience, your responsibilities may include learning the fundamentals of iron equipment maintenance, supporting experienced technicians, or independently carrying out more advanced inspection, servicing and repair activities.
  • Carry out all work safely and in line with SPM HSE policies, procedures and lean principles.
  • Report any accident, near miss or environmental issue to your supervisor immediately.
  • Follow SPM Work Instructions/SOPS at all times.
  • For trainee or early-career candidates, learn and develop the core skills required to become a competent Iron Technician while also undertaking general yard duties and spray painting.
  • For experienced candidates, apply existing knowledge of flowline equipment, inspection standards and workshop practices to support high-quality delivery.
  • Strip down, service, repair and inspect flowline equipment, appropriate to your training and experience level.
  • Carry out gauge, MPI wall thickness inspections and pressure testing of equipment to SPM or customer standards once trained and authorised to do so.
  • Complete rental loadouts from Iron Request Forms.
  • Record serial numbers and schedule inspections within Asset Management Program (AMP).
  • Use of SPM RFID system to check-in and identify assets.
  • For experienced candidates, lead teams when completing rental/refurbishment jobs, giving updates to supervisors and service team.
  • Lead jobs on customer jobs offshore or onsite at customer locations overseas, representing the company in a professional manner.
  • For experienced candidates, mentor/buddy less experienced technicians and assist with their training.
  • Always maintain a high level of housekeeping within workshop cells.
  • Prioritise tasks to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Complete required training, which may include Forklift, Gantry Crane and Abrasive Wheels training.
  • Any other duties as required by your supervisor.
