East Coast Mobility is looking for a Workshop Engineer to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis, based in Lowestoft, Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and hands-on individual to join a well-established mobility specialist, helping to prepare, service and repair mobility equipment that enables customers to maintain their independence.

About the role:

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, as the Workshop Engineer, you will play a key role in preparing new and refurbished mobility equipment to the highest standards, ensuring every product is safe, reliable and ready for customers. In this role, you will be required to work Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assemble new mobility scooters, powerchairs and other mobility equipment ready for sale and delivery.
  • Refurbish second-hand mobility products to a high-quality, saleable standard.
  • Carry out pre-delivery inspections, servicing and repairs, ensuring all equipment meets company quality and safety standards.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs accurately and efficiently, maintaining detailed service and inspection records.
  • Support with the delivery, installation, servicing and repair of mobility equipment, including occasional stairlift installations and demonstrations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop while assisting with stock control and supporting the wider business as required.

About you:

As a Workshop Engineer, you will have a practical, hands-on approach and enjoy diagnosing and resolving technical issues. Experience within a workshop, engineering, maintenance, repair or mechanical environment would be highly advantageous, along with a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be organised, reliable and customer-focused, with good communication skills, basic IT knowledge and a positive, can-do attitude. A commitment to producing high-quality work, following health and safety procedures, and delivering an outstanding customer experience is essential.
