We are currently recruiting for a hands-on and proactive Operations Operative to join a growing specialist equipment hire business providing temporary HVAC solutions to commercial and industrial customers across the UK. This is a varied role combining warehouse operations, equipment servicing, site support and logistics. You will play an important part in ensuring equipment is maintained, prepared and ready for hire, while supporting engineers with installations, decommissioning projects and emergency callouts. You will spend time both in the warehouse and on customer sites, so this role would suit someone who enjoys practical, physical work and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Duties include:
- Support the installation, decommissioning, servicing and emergency callouts of temporary HVAC equipment.
- Carry out practical site activities including laying hoses, installing Heras fencing and other manual tasks.
- Work at height where trained and authorised.
- Service, inspect, test and maintain portable equipment to ensure it is safe, compliant and ready for hire.
- Work alongside engineers to safely complete installations and servicing projects.
- Coordinate with drivers, site teams and lifting contractors to ensure deliveries and lifting operations are completed safely.
- Assist with loading, unloading and moving equipment using a forklift.
- Support warehouse operations and ensure equipment is organised and available for hire.
- Complete stock takes and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised warehouse and yard.
- Identify site challenges and suggest practical improvements to working methods and operational processes.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with engineers, customers, transport providers and site personnel.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure health & safety procedures are followed.
- Provide general operational support across the business as required.
The right candidate will have/be:
- B2 Forklift Licence.
- Capable of manual handling and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at height, with training provided where required.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally stay away overnight.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, proactive approach to problem solving.
- Comfortable undertaking stock takes and maintaining accurate records.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and business systems.
- Strong team player with a flexible approach to working across different departments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and good housekeeping.
