We are working with a growing and highly technical IT solutions and managed services business that is looking for an ambitious Account Manager to join its team in Reading. The business works with organisations across a range of sectors, delivering solutions across managed IT services, data centre transformation, networking and security, workforce transformation, data protection and cyber recovery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Account Manager who enjoys building strong customer relationships, identifying new opportunities and working alongside technical specialists to deliver tailored IT solutions.

The Role

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing and developing an existing portfolio of customers, while identifying opportunities to increase revenue and strengthen long-term client relationships. You will become a trusted point of contact for your customers, understanding their business challenges and technology requirements before working with internal technical teams to recommend the right solutions and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, retain and develop existing customer accounts
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers
  • Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling and account growth
  • Understand customers’ business objectives and technology requirements
  • Generate new opportunities within existing accounts
  • Work closely with technical and professional services teams
  • Develop and deliver commercial proposals and presentations
  • Manage the sales process from initial opportunity through to close
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
  • Consistently achieve revenue and margin targets
  • Stay up to date with developments across IT infrastructure, cloud, networking and cybersecurity

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded and confident Account Manager who enjoys working with customers and has a genuine interest in technology. Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in Account Management or a similar sales role
  • Experience within IT, technology, managed services, infrastructure or a related sector
  • A proven track record of developing and retaining customer accounts
  • Experience identifying and closing additional sales opportunities
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A consultative approach to sales
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • The ability to work effectively alongside technical teams
  • A proactive, motivated and target-driven approach

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000/annum
