Are you an experienced HSE professional with a strong background in construction safety and CDM 2015? Do you have experience working on complex infrastructure projects within high-hazard or operational environments? If so, this Senior Construction HSE Advisor role could be an excellent opportunity for you!

This position is based in Portsmouth and offers the opportunity to play a key role across a major £100m infrastructure and construction programme within a maritime and defence environment. The role is permanent, with a competitive salary.

As the Senior Construction HSE Advisor, you’ll provide senior-level strategic and technical HSE support across complex construction projects, taking the lead on CDM 2015, construction safety and project risk management. You’ll provide expert guidance to Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duty holders, while overseeing high-risk activities including intrusive works, temporary works, lifting operations, excavations, high-risk M&E and marine/port interfaces.

You’ll review and challenge Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, design risk registers and temporary works proposals, as well as leading targeted inspections, audits and investigations. A key part of the role will involve managing the interface between construction and live operational environments, including SIMOPS, isolations, access control and operational continuity.

You will need:

  • Significant HSE experience across complex construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within a high-hazard environment
  • Strong and demonstrable knowledge of CDM 2015, with experience advising Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duty holders
  • Experience managing high-risk construction activities including temporary works, lifting, intrusive works, excavations and hazardous energy control
  • Experience working within live operational estates where construction interfaces with engineering, facilities management or marine environments
  • Strong experience in safety investigations, assurance, risk management and contractor performance management
  • NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 5/6, NCRQ Diploma or equivalent SHE qualification
