NXTGEN is recruiting an Accounts Assistant for a fast-growing consultancy based in Norwich. This Accounts Assistant position offers something different from a traditional transactional role, combining core accounting responsibilities with project finance, commercial reporting and regular collaboration across the wider business.
The organisation delivers complex projects across several specialist sectors and has expanded significantly across the UK. Youll join at an exciting stage of its growth, supporting both the finance team and the professionals responsible for delivering its projects.
The role
As the Accounts Assistant, youll help ensure projects are set up correctly from the outset and that their financial performance can be accurately tracked throughout their lifecycle.
Youll work closely with finance, operational and project teams, maintaining the quality of information held within the ERP system and producing the financial data needed to support commercial decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up new projects within the ERP system, including budgets, coding and financial structures
- Updating project records following contractual, budget or scope changes
- Monitoring project costs, revenue, budget utilisation and key milestones
- Producing clear and timely project finance reports
- Supporting project invoicing, timesheet tracking and month-end activity
- Processing purchase invoices and maintaining supplier accounts
- Identifying incomplete or inaccurate information and working with stakeholders to resolve it
- Keeping project documentation and financial records accurate throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting improvements to finance and project reporting processes
- Assisting the wider finance team with additional accounting responsibilities
What are we looking for?
The successful Accounts Assistant will have previous experience within finance or accounting and be comfortable working with detailed financial information. Exposure to project-based work would be useful, although candidates with strong accounting fundamentals and an interest in developing their commercial experience are equally encouraged to apply.
